Zeitgeist is the main mood/atmosphere of a particular time period, shown by the beliefs and concepts that were prevalent at that point in time. Modern Family is set in the 21st century, displaying contemporary family life that many people can relate to. This show presents semi-idealized upper-class families living in Los Angeles. It touches on many different topics and stereotypes, which include straying away from nuclear families. Communication/lack of communication tends to be a big idea in this sitcom which has a tendency to lead to many issues.
